Colostrum is the pre-milk liquid that mothers produce at birth and the first few days of life. It is full of immune-enhancing antibodies, other important immune factors, and essential growth factors to ensure health and vitality for adults and children. Our decision to stock colostrum was made as a result one our candida customers telling us how it had cured her irritable bowel, bloating and wind. Her exact words were "I couldn't believe it". But because there is so much more to say, we have now given colostrum it's own separate information page found here.
Colostrum is one of those products which can potentially help a very wide range of problems. Three of the most most common areas it may help concern : -
1) Supporting the immune system
2) Any type of inflammatory problem (e.g. athritis, hayfever etc)
3) Digestive health and reducing gut inflammation (e.g. leaky gut, gastritis, intestinal candida, food allergies)
4) Chronic fatigue

It's very hard to get hold of ORGANIC Colostrum. In fact as far as we are aware we are only suppliers in Europe selling it.
Our colostrum is produced in the EU and comes from EU bovine herds, which is also freeze dried. Care is taken in processing, testing, making sure their cows are organically fed, as so on. Every batch is tested and declared free of harmful hormones, antibiotics and pesticides. The fat is not removed, since that contributes significantly to the effectiveness of the immuno or "transfer factors" (those elements that convey immunity and life-long protection to the offspring) provided by the colostrum.
Why doesn't it have an Organic Symbol on it (Update September 2023)
Our manufacturer is registered with the Soil Association to produce organic products, but we are not. We have seen the organic certification from them for the raw material they are using to put together the product for us. But it's illegal for us to put an organic symbol on it unless we join the Soil Association. We originally got the first organic batches made for us, and decided to test the water (i.e. see if customers actually buy it) before spending good money (which could have cost implications for our customers) getting the right to use the organic symbol. That was about a year ago, and now that we are finding we are getting decent sales, we will be applying this month for certification, and so we expect to have the official symbol on the next batch we produce, probably in early 2024.
Some companies will use this term to pull the wool over your eyes where it comes to colostrum. Others call it "100% grass fed" colostrum, rather than just "grass fed" colostrum. Grass fed is not the same at all as organic though the expression does sound pleasantly reassuring, as it conjures up the impression of cows prancing about happily in open fields eating grass the way that nature intended, free of contamination.
Colostrum is a food, and children can obtain the same benefits as adults from taking it.
We have been told that the colostrum contains the same casein which is found in regular cows milk, and is from A1 producing cows. (A2 milk, which some people tolerate better is very hard to find). But those who cannot tolerate casein can usually tolerate casein on colostrum. In fact people who cannot tolerate casein may even improve, as colostrum is a healing food, which helps prevent the inflammatory antibody responses which cause food intolerances.
Yes, it contains 1.8% lactose. Our comments here are the similar to our comments regarding casein: those who cannot tolerate lactose normally can often tolerate it in Colostrum for the same reasons as those above, and it may even help improve intolerance. However if you have concerns regarding whether you should take colostrum if you are intolerant of casein or lactose, you should discuss this with your health care practitioner.
Our Organic Colostrum is skimmed, concentrated and freeze dried. The material is partially pasteurised in order to preserve the immunoglobulin profile, and we have been advised that this is the only way to produce a stable product.
Our suppliers say that it comes from predominantly grass fed European herds. However they are fed some grain fed during the deep winter months.
Suggested Label Dosage: 2 capsules taken twice a day with food or away from food.
I'm Mark Lester, the "boss" of The Finchley Clinic. I used to recommend people to try the suggested label dosage for at least a month. And many people seem to benefit from doing exactly that. But after a discussion with one of my own mentors, who I believe is one of the finest nutritionists in the UK, I am recommending people to try a far higher amount if necessary. His exact words were "I don’t think anyone has given colostrum a fair crack of the whip until they have tried twelve capsules daily for at least a month". I know this gets pricey, so I will let you think about this one, and decide for yourself whether or not to really "go" for it if the standard dosage isn't benefiting you. I doubt whether anyone needs to stay on this dosage indefinitely, but it may be useful for a few months
