Articles on Oxy-Powder, Colosan and Mag 07 Oxygen Colon Cleansers

Are we more constipated than we think?

According to Guts UK – an organisation committed to helping digestive orders, albeit from a different and more orthodox perspective than us, yes.  And it’s time was spoke about it. We like to talk about colon cleanse rather than constipation, but either way, to use their rather amusing catch-phrase “the poo taboo is over”.

We agree, so let’s talk. First of all the facts. In naturopathic medicine, the predominant view is that we should poop once for every meals we eat, and we cannot emphasise this too much without straining. Food in, waste out, food in, waste out, food in, waste out. Got the idea? It’s not exactly rocket science is it?

But the fact is that countless people, including quite frequently people who are on good, healthy, high fibre diets do not do this. The reasons for this are varied and beyond what we would discuss in a newsletter.

We also think that good health depends on proper bowel movement, and that the well-known naturopathic adage of “death begins in the colon” has a lot of truth to it.

But what’s our solution?

Well, we don’t actually sell products for constipation – products designed to treat constipation would be classed as medicines which we don’t sell. We provide food supplements, not medicines. But we do sell a unique range of oxygen based colon cleansers which work by increasing the oxidative cycle in the gut, not by irritating the gut, which in essence is how most natural and herbal medicines designed to relieve constipation actually work. Some of these products work by attracting water into the gut. But if people are constipated because they are not drinking enough water (this is one, but not the only cause of constipation), in the longer run this is going to make the dehydration worse! Some of the others contain acesulfame potassium (E950) which is an artificial sweetener. It’s also a neuro-toxin, considered by some to be carcinogenic and a cause of multiple scleroris.

Instead we use oxygen to help restore peristalsis. Our three core products for this are Mag 07, Oxy-Powder and Colosan. They are all similar but different. Meaning that based on looking at the ingredients are they all virtually the same. However in reality individual results do vary, and some people find that one of them works better for them than another one of them. In the majority of cases, any of them work for most people. But for the small percentage who do not come into this category, we find that at least one of them will work for more or less everyone. For those who have an ongoing tendency to constipation (and by the way, I am one of them myself) they are all safe to be used long-term. In fact the more you oxygenate your colon and your body, the better your general health will be. This is why I take three capsules of oxy-powder every morning, alternating every so often by replacing it with three capsules of colosan instead. (The label dosage by the way, says to take one capsule with both products. However I ignore this, and I take the amount I know from experience that my body needs. I suggest you also adjust the dosage according to your needs, and as the label dosage is no more than a guideline, and a very cautious one at that). I find both products work splendidly for me, though I alternate between them to prevent my body from becoming habituated to any one product.

One only needs to read the customer reviews on our web site to know how amazing they are, and how many problems people report have improved that do not come up the categorisation of “constipation” – particularly those who suffer from low energy states.

You can purchase these products here (as well as read the reviews when you select the individual product pages) and your colon will thank you.

Another option for a colon cleanse which goes a step further is colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation. This gentle and effective detoxification treatment is now available at our sister organisation, Health Fusion Clinic, in Barnet on the London and Hertfordshire border.

Mag 07 vs. Colosan vs. Oxy-Powder: which colon cleanse product is best?

For those of our customers who suffer from regular – or less frequent bowel issues – many find one of three of our products of particular use: Mag 07, Colosan and Oxy-Powder. All three of them have successfully delivered good results for those wanting a healthy colon and who’ve tried them through The Finchley Clinic – our feedback and reviews tell us so.

But which is better? Well, it doesn’t seem to work like that. It seems more to depend on which of the three products your body gets on best with. The fact is Mag 07, Colosan and Oxy-Powder are all similar products, so we much prefer for customers to try each of them out as they wish and then decide for themselves. What we might suggest, though, is to start off by rotating the products (possibly with Psyllium Intensive and MSM too) in order to discover which of them, ultimately, you get on with best.

Mag 07

An oxygen-based product that comes in powder and vegan-suitable capsule form, Mag 07 operates by releasing nascent (singlet) oxygen into the digestive system to ease, reduce and eradicate colon issues. Often acting rapidly (even as quickly as overnight), Mag 07 has been proven in laboratory tests to release oxygen over a 12-hour-period, thanks in no small part to its inherent magnesium transporting oxygen through the intestinal tract, the kidneys and the liver (Mag 07’s chief ingredient is magnesium oxide). It’s therefore able to enhance the absorption of nutrients from foods and from other beneficial supplements, while also augmenting the positive effects of weight loss and sports nutrition products.Mag-07-colon-cleanse

We would like to point out, however, that it might be in your best interests to follow a regimen of Mag 07 with a combination of probiotic bacteria supplements (e.g. acidophilus, bifidos, bulgaricum, salivarius) in order to build up the oxygen secreting cultures in your gut once more – check out or probiotic range here.

Colosan

Available in both capsule and powder form, Colosan is used by most of its adherents as a colon cleanser, despite having been originally designed to be consumed as a general health tonic. Its fans note its ability to help maintain comfortable, regular and frequent bowel behaviour without need to rely on harsh-acting laxatives.Colosan-Capsules

Indeed, a good number of our Colosan customers claim that it aids them in combating yeast overgrowth and gut dysbiosis, which is no surprise as the product can successfully eliminate toxicity throughout the bowel; oxidising toxins and faecal matter.

And it enacts this oxidising effect thanks to its featuring a super-oxygenated version of magnesium oxide, which means its oxygen atoms are bonded via a catalytic process due to a loose lattice-like formation of the magnesium atoms. This ensures that as soon as the product reaches the digestive tract, the oxygen’s released to fully deliver its de-toxifying effect and cleanse the colon.

Oxy-Powder

Finally, Oxy-Powder is another high-quality oxygen-based colon cleanser designed to help in the cleansing and oxygenating of the bowels, promoting friendly gut flora and in removing unwanted waste matter; thus, promoting optimal colon health.Oxy-Powder

The product slowly releases its mono-atomic (stabilised nascent) oxygen into the bloodstream and intestinal tract so an inhospitable environment for harmful bacteria and other toxic matter can be created but one that doesn’t, of course, impede the friendly bacteria required to ensure good digestive and intestinal health. As such Oxy-Powder operates, according to many of our customers, as an excellent colon cleansing solution, yet we’d suggest it may deliver even great results too when combined with colon hydrotherapy (colonic irrigation) – before, during or after such treatment.

Keep Your Colon And Liver Clear: Do They Need Cleansing?

Undeniably, a good deal of our ill-health can be traced to the colon – the large intestine in the digestive system – owing to this being where so many of the harmful toxins and micro-organisms that we consume congregate before they get carried away elsewhere in the body or start doing no good. So taking care of the colon ought to be a top priority for all of us, but how many of us actually do? How many of us even consider doing so? Not enough. Not to put too fine a point on it, keeping your digestive tract in good working order and ensuring your colon’s healthy is crucial – and a regular colon cleanse can go a very long way here. Moreover, you may consider a liver cleanse too; the liver being the utterly crucial organ involved in detoxifying the content that passes through the colon.

The importance of the colon

To understand just why the colon’s so critical to your body and why its upkeep’s so critical to your health, it’s important to appreciate just what it does. To put it crudely, the colon could be considered the waste management station of the human body. As digestion of the food you consume takes place, the left-over, non-nutritious and unnecessary waste products pass from the stomach, via the liver (in charge of detoxification) and into the colon as a conduit on their way to being excreted from the body altogether; that said, important nutrients are still absorbed and hormones produced in the colon while this happens.

All of which means that it’s essential for the colon to be capable of working as efficiently as possible – so many cells and tissues throughout the body (among them again, the liver) rely on this being the case. If not, waste can’t be properly processed and nutrients yet to be absorbed from ‘waste food’ (including the likes of vitamins, electrolytes and even water) won’t be removed from the otherwise digested food for the body to use and so benefit from.

So, the colon isn’t just an organic tunnel that waste passes through on its way to the anus; it also plays an absolutely crucial role in the determination of what nutrients are pulled from food (and redistributed) and what’s discarded along with the waste.

Colon and liver cleanse benefits

As noted then, in order to help the colon and the liver keep themselves in tip-top condition; it’s highly advisable to regularly cleanse them. More specifically, you might do so to clear health-endangering blockages. Like it or not, it’s estimated that the average person has between seven and 10 pounds of pre-existing faecal matter in their colon at any one time – and that’s even the case should they have a regular bowel movement each day.

While that probably doesn’t sound like something you want to ponder on, it’s prudent to note that an accumulation of waste on the colon’s walls creates an ideal environment for parasites, ‘bad’ bacteria, yeast and viruses to set up home and multiply. Plus, waste that’s clogging up the colon means the new waste that ought to be passing into it from the liver is backed up (and here’s why it’s wise to cleanse your liver if you’re considering on cleansing your colon).

Indeed, too often, in a worryingly high proportion of people the detoxification pathways of the liver are essentially blocked. And the trouble with this is that, in time, toxins can build up in them – food for thought, as it were, given that it’s believed the average person’s exposed to more than 120 toxins every day thanks to the food, fluids and water they consume, the personal care products they use, the stress they experience and the air they breathe.

Cleansing the colon and the liver in order to prevent blockage of detoxification pathways is highly advisable then; not least because the latter can potentially lead to what’s known as autointoxication (poisoning by a toxin created in the body). Indeed, one expert even believes so many ‘undesirable consequences’ in the body can be traced back to autointoxication that it’s essentially the cause – as far as the body’s concerned – of many of the today’s illnesses and diseases1.

What undesirable consequences, though? Well, we’re talking symptoms like aching muscles and joints; candida (or a general yeast) infection; congestion; constipation; diarrhoea; difficulty breathing; difficulty concentrating and ‘fuzzy thinking’; eye vision issues; fever; fatigue; flu-like symptoms; hormonal imbalance; insomnia; mucus discharge; vomiting and weight gain. If you find yourself suffering from a good number of these problems and issues at the same time then there’s a chance your liver’s detoxification pathways are blocked and, because of that, you might be suffering from autointoxication.

Autointoxication – the ins and outs

Just to be clear, though; as you’d no doubt assume, autointoxication isn’t an occurrence that’s altogether straightforward – or, at least, its causation isn’t. While blockages in the colon and liver can often be behind the problem, it’s worth bearing in mind there could be other reasons for such toxin trouble in the body. The causes for autointoxication then tend to be one of the following:

  • Blockages backing up waste in the colon – as noted, this causes a traffic jam in the intestinal tract, trailing back to the liver and possibly the kidneys
  • Congestion in the liver – should the liver on its own be blocked up thanks to toxins and, thus, perform sluggishly, it can be further compromised thanks to toxins in the colon enjoying a freer rein and further poisoning the liver, slowing down the liver even more
  • Adrenal fatigue or low thyroid – if you have issues with either (or both) the adrenal glands and/ or the thyroid gland and they’re not producing the hormone levels they ought to be, then it’s almost inevitable your body will become fatigued, resulting in a sluggish colon, constipation and autointoxication; if you’re not sleeping well, it’s bound to have a knock-on effect on the efficacy of these glands as well.

Colon and liver cleanse supplements

So, should you have established you’re suffering from autointoxication thanks to colon (and/ or liver) blockages or you merely suspect your colon and liver are more clogged up than they should be, cleansing them is the answer. In addition to cutting-out junk food, excessive alcohol intake and any recreational drug use (all of which you’re highly advised to do to ensure your gastrointestinal system functions to the best of its ability), you might to take a look at the following cleansing supplements collections available from us at The Finchley Clinic:

The big O: a lowdown on oxygen – and why you might try oxygen cleansing

Don’t doubt it; oxygen is an absolutely critical substance for humans. The odourless, colourless gas that accounts for a fifth of the air all around us (and is the third most abundant in space beyond the Earth), it’s absolutely critical to our wellbeing, given that, along with hydrogen it makes up water – the basis for all life – and is the single most common chemical element in the human body; accounting for a whopping 65% of the body’s overall mass3. To that end then, its functions and benefits in the body are many and plentiful – and what can go wrong when the body’s deprived of it are serious, indeed.

Beating the Beastly Yeast: how to tackle Candida the natural way

If you live in the United States and, while watching, hearing or reading the news, you perk up whenever health issues are mentioned, you’ll surely be aware of the drug-resistant illness that in the last few weeks has infected more than 75 people in the US1. Affecting – and potentially damaging – the bloodstream, wounds and ears, it’s predicted (in the very worst case scenario) to cause organ failure, especially for the most ‘at risk’ category; among them diabetics, premature babies and those on paralysis or with weak immunity1.

That’s because it’s an outbreak of Candida auris, one of the broad family of Candida yeasts, many of which (should they get out of control when inside the human body and result in ‘Candida overgrowth’) can cause serious ongoing health issues. In fact, since 2013, outbreaks of Candida auris have been reported in 14 separate countries, including the UK – yes, it’s not just a nasty thing confined to the US, unfortunately1.

Candida – the beastly yeast?

Highlighting these recent infections of this particularly unpleasant Candida strain shows just how common it doing us ill actually is – in fact, so common is Candida that on occasions most people probably don’t realise it’s the cause for them feeling below par or very ill. A wide array of Candida species (the most common of which is probably Candida alcibans2, 3) can cause us real trouble if they’re allowed free roam in our bodies – potentially fungal infections like candidiasis, candidemia and oral flush4.

Yet the truth is that when the Candida levels in your body (most pertinently in the skin and the mucous membranes of the gut and vagina) are kept in check, thanks to a healthy immune system, Candida is very rarely a problem. Indeed, different strains of Candida are among the organisms that a new-born baby will acquire from their mother via birth or through breastfeeding or early food5 – moreover, one specific species, Candida cylindracea, supports effective digestion owing to the positive enzymatic properties and pH levels it possesses6.

Candida overgrowth – symptoms and causes

However, should Candida be allowed to run riot in parts of your body and multiply to the extent it results in overgrowth, perhaps the most immediate consequence is that it’ll imbalance and disrupt the body’s gut microbiota. This is when the balance of bacteria in the intestines tips hazardously in favour of ‘bad bacteria’ and harmful micro-organisms like Candida over ‘good bacteria’ and health-preserving probiotics.

As a result of this then, Candida overgrowth effects can regularly include gastrointestinal (and gastrointestinal-related) issues like abdominal pains, indigestion and excessive gas; irritability, tiredness and trouble concentrating; anxiety and mood swings; skin infections, eczema, psoriasis and acne; oral or vaginal thrush7 and promotion of leaky gut syndrome8. Moreover, overgrowth can see Candida-derived problems occur all over the body, thanks to the yeast potentially infecting the blood, genitals, skin and the throat and oesophagus9, 10.

But what about the causes? Well, some of the most common and guilty of Candida promoters are:

  • Weakened immunity – unfortunately, a large number of medical conditions and medications can weaken the immune system11, 12, 13
  • Antibiotics – attack all bacteria (‘good’ as well as ‘bad’), thus upsetting the gut microbiota balance and allowing Candida to thrive4
  • Diabetes – a hallmark of diabetes, high blood glucose (hyperglycaemia), inhibits the immune system and the digestive and urinary systems4, 14
  • Alcohol – chronic alcohol drinking can lead to the growth of certain Candida species
  • Other potential causes include kidney failure and haemodialysis treatment; organ transplantation; poor diet and pregnancy15, 16

Tackling Candida

Thankfully, should you suspect – and especially if you have it confirmed by a medical professional – that you’re suffering from Candida overgrowth, there’s certainly something you can do about it. Your best advised treatment is a natural remedy – and why not in the shape of easy-to-take and highly effective supplements? All three of the following and many more are available through The Finchley Clinic (indeed, check out the ‘Candida Cleansing’ section of our website for all the Candida supplements we sell)…

Threelac

Threelac – a probiotic that’s revered for managing candida and yeast infections, containing three forms of spore-forming lactic acid bacteria that work to purge your intestinal tract of parasites and dysbiotic microorganisms; also highly recommended is its sister product Fivelac.

Active-Digestive-Enzymes

Active Digestive Enzymes – actually designed to be taken in conjunction with Threelac and may help a Candida-focused cleanse by improving food absorption to reduce the amount of ‘food’ such parasites feed on in the tract.

thyme-formula

Thyme Formula and Thyme Formula A – botanical products specifically designed to help manage Candida overgrowth throughout the body.

Aim High Not Low: How to Improve Your Metabolism

So you’re feeling a little frazzled, a bit tired, even a tad run down? Doesn’t everyone now and then? Well, a lot of people do, but equally, it may be preventable. There could be a reason why, on top of leading a busy working, family and social life as you may do, you feel physically exhausted now and again. It may be because you’re not looking after your body and maintaining your metabolism as you well as you might.

Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that occur in the body, not least digestion and the transport of food and energy to and between different cells. And it’s to understand this process – and what you are eating and how you lead your life – as to why you have a ‘high metabolism’ (you digest food and can use it as energy relatively quickly) or a ‘low metabolism’ (your body takes longer to digest food and use it as energy). In a good number cases, the lower a person’s metabolism, the more likely they’ll feel physically tired; the higher the metabolism, vice versa.

Low metabolism – why?

Of course, you use energy from the food you eat and burn fat while you’re physically active, but in reality, you also do so when you’re at rest. And it’s this that essentially defines the kind of metabolism you have, as it’s when you’re at rest your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is measured for how quickly and effectively you burn fat. To that end then, should you realise your BMR is slow and that may ensure why you feel tired too much of the time, there are several reasons why it might be:

  • Diet – all those fatty, processed, sugary foods are doing you no good whatsoever
  • Dieting – yes, that’s right; dieting tends to do little to help your metabolism because low calorie diets force your body into ‘starvation mode’, thus slowing the metabolism down as it attempts to preserve calories instead of burning them; note that when you resume eating after the diet it’ll preserve the calories still – but as fat
  • Sleep hygiene – your body won’t process food and use energy efficiently if you’re not sleeping well and are exhausted
  • Pressure and stress – stress brings on the production of the cortisol hormone which, unfortunately, eventually contributes to body fat
  • Toxicity in the body – toxins and ‘free radicals’ slow down your metabolic rate because, while the body’s converting food into energy, it’s also fighting  hard to eradicate such harmful molecules and micro-organisms
  • Medical factors – weight gain can result from thyroid and adrenal issues and family genetics, thus inevitably slowing down your metabolism (especially as you age).

High metabolism – how?

So to ensure a healthy metabolism what should you be doing? First off, start exercising. It needn’t be difficult; sure, it may be challenging to start with, but say you exercise every day for 10 minutes; eventually you’ll get used to it and, in time, find it relatively easy to slowly increase the amount to 12 minutes, then 15 and then 20. And exercise at work too. Be sure to get up from your desk and walk about every once in a while (preferably up and down stairs) and walk the dog daily if possible. Incorporating such short bursts of energy-use throughout the day will help keep your metabolism ticking over.

And then there’s your diet, of course; this has a huge impact on your metabolism. Indeed, after a night’s sleep (when it naturally slows down), try to start the morning by eating a fresh fruit-based breakfast first-thing, kicking off the day with a boost to the metabolism so you start burning calories as soon as possible – and aim to keep on doing so throughout the rest of the day:

  • Meals – eat smaller helpings at meal times but keep eating throughout the day; fewer but regular helpings will burden your digestion less
  • Snack on fruits – many are ‘negative calorie’ foods, such as apples, asparaguses, avocados, broccoli, cabbages, carrots, cauliflower, celery, berries, cucumbers, grapefruits, lemons, lettuce, onions, oranges, papayas and pineapples
  • Go for lean protein – raw nuts and seeds are rich in protein so are packed with amino acids, ensuring you burn more calories and get your metabolism working harder to break it down as it passes through your digestion system.

Cleansing– why not try supplements?

Why not, indeed! Hopefully it’s now clear that focusing on diet, eating habits and remaining physically active is crucial to improving your metabolism, but who would turn down further help? And if, for whatever reason, you’re incapable of exercising as much as you’d like to or unable to change your diet as much as you might, then supplementation’s a great alternative or enhancement – specifically digestive cleansing supplements.

Available from us at The Finchley Clinic, all three of the following products help eradicate from the body toxins and the like that slow down digestion, thus helping to speed up your metabolism naturally:

Oxy-Powder-120-capsules

Oxy-Powder – a high-quality oxygen cleansing supplement, it oxygenates and cleanses the small and large intestines, leading to an optimal bowel environment to aid a well-functioning metabolism

Mag-07-colon-cleanse

Mag O7 – a colon cleanser that releases nascent oxygen for fast acting (usually overnight) results

Livatrex-new

Livatrex – ideal for liver cleansing, a product designed to support and drive the natural process of detoxifying, flushing and purging the liver of built-up toxins, fatty deposits and more.

Diet, Hydration, Supplements and More: How To Help Your Colon Help You

There are two kinds of colon. The first is the grammatical kind (‘;’), which most people don’t know how to use properly. The second is the long tube that makes up part of the human body’s digestive system and, likewise, unfortunately many people don’t know exactly what it does and so how to keep it (and themselves) healthy.

Otherwise referred to as the large intestine, the colon doesn’t digest food – instead, it’s all about the processing of waste from food and drink, passing the waste on its way eventually out of the body via the rectum. It’s made up of four different parts, along which waste moves, slowly developing into solid material and finally becoming stool. Given the colon’s critical importance to the digestive system then (although you may ask what part of the digestive system isn’t critically important?), it’s very much in your interest to keep yours as well functioning and happy as possible; a healthy colon helps make for a healthy you.

And if a colon’s healthy and functioning correctly, it’ll be doing its job of removing much needed vitamins and other nutrients, as well as water, from the waste before it’s finally expelled from the body. Why? To ensure that not only is all the goodness from the food we eat removed and used as it should be in the body, but also that the unnecessary and, indeed, damaging ingredients of the food (that is, the toxins and impurities) are removed and, yes, excreted as waste.

How to keep your colon healthy

So, how can you aid your colon in doing its job effectively – what can you do to help it help you? Well, here are five top tips for looking after your colon health:

  • Get your diet right – the first step to a happy colon is eating well and that means swapping sugar-rich, fatty processed foods packed with toxins for nutrient-rich, organic, fresh foods; the likes of fruits and green leafy vegetables, broccoli, lemons, garlic, juices, mung beans, raw nuts, seeds and whole grains
  • Exercise – as with many things when it comes to your body, it’s important to remain physically active to ensure your digestive system’s in good shape1; if you’re feeling sluggish your colon will doubtless behave likewise and no good will come from toxic waste clogging it up for longer than is necessary
  • Keep hydrated – there are few things more healthy for you than drinking water (hardly surprising, as about 60% of the male adult body is actually water; 55% of the female adult body), so be sure to drink purified, oxygenated water to help flush out toxins and harmful impurities; in fact, the body’s most fundamental processes can’t take place without good old H2O1, including waste process and removal, not least because it helps stool remain soft so it’s easier to pass and excrete2
  • Rest properly – in most cases, even the healthiest person is believed to need between seven and nine hours’ sleep a night3 – how much do you get? Less than that? And how do you sleep? Do you get tired easily? Following a better diet is likely to help you relax and sleep, which in turn then – like your diet will directly – will improve your colon’s health
  • Consider a colon cleanse – this may seem an extreme step to take, but don’t worry it’s not an unpleasant or involving experience; certainly not if you avoid laxatives and do it the natural way to clear your colon of any waste that’s got trapped.

Colon cleanse supplements

To that end, you might want to take a look at the ‘Colon Cleanse’ section of our website for suitable naturally-derived, gentle and safe colon-cleansing products – for instance, all three of the following highly recommended supplements are available via The Finchley Clinic:

Oxy-Powder

Oxy-Powder – slowly releases mono-atomic oxygen to create an unfriendly environment for harmful bacteria and other toxins, enabling free rein for the friendly bacteria needed for proper digestive and intestinal health.

threelac-caps

Threelac – contains Bacillus coagulans (a probiotic that helps solve digestion issues), Bacillus subtilis (may aid removal of bad flora) and Enterococcus faecalis (a friendly bacteria that’s great for the gut); Threelac works very well with other supplements we sell.

Colosan-Capsules

Colosan – gently releases oxygen into the digestive tract to cleanse the large and small intestines and ease constipation; may also help with candida and parasites.

From supplements to acupuncture: your options for ulcerative colitis treatment

For many, conditions affecting the digestive system and, in particular, the colons are something they don’t find easy to discuss or even face up to. However, such illnesses need to be taken seriously. For instance, within 10 years of their original diagnosis, almost one-third of those who suffer from an active form of ulcerative colitis require surgery for a colostomy1.

Treatment shouldn’t be taken lightly then for the likes of ulcerative colitis – a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which intermittently inflames and causes ulcers on the innermost wall of the colon. But equally, surgery is far from the only option; indeed, depending on the timing of diagnosis, there may be several other avenues to explore in treating the condition, not only to alleviate symptoms but hopefully to force it into remission.

Surgical treatment

As mentioned above, surgery for non-responsive patients may prove inevitable, especially if ulcerative colitis has unfortunately developed into colorectal cancer. Standard surgery comprises two stages, although recently some doctors have favoured a three-stage approach – however, research could suggest this latter approach may not be as safe as the former2, 3.

Pharmaceutical treatment

Long before it may be decided surgery’s the only course of action for an afflicted patient, though; drugs are commonly deployed to fight the condition. This, depending, of course, both on the condition’s severity and patient responsiveness, often involves corticosteroids. Often, through treatment of such drugs, nearly one-third of patients (30%) enter remission after one year4, 5.

Acupuncture treatment

It’s perhaps understandable that, when it comes to treating a condition like ulcerative colitis (which, if left unchecked, can get dramatically worse), some may be sniffy when the word acupuncture is mentioned; others may be downright against its suggestion at all. However, two relatively recent studies point to potentially positive results from acupuncture as ulcerative colitis treatment.

The first attested that, in addition to a drug commonly used for ulcerative colitis, the heating of an acupuncture site (otherwise known as moxibustion) lent patients suffering from mild to moderate symptoms ‘greater relief and symptom reduction’ than those who received the drug alone6. The second suggested that patients whom received (again in addition to a traditional drug) Kuijiening plaster – to treat the ulcerative colitis-related spleen-yang deficiency – enjoyed better results than those whom merely had the drug treatment7.

Supplement treatment

Finally, if studies suggest we should consider the positives of acupuncture in treating ulcerative colitis, then surely we ought also to take seriously research – and patient testimonials – that clearly state treatment through supplements and probiotics can pay dividends. With studies suggesting probiotic supplementation is favorable8, sufferers may consider Restore (for Gut Health), which promotes the strengthening of the tight-junction barrier in small and large gut membrane cells for an optimal gut environment,or the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii (a natural and safe supplement that scientific research has concluded helps provide bowel health, comfort and function – it’s also recognised as the number one probiotic for managing diarrhoea).

Oxy-Powder-capsules

This supplement is available directly through the Finchley Clinic, as are others that can help treat ulcerative colitis, such as Oxy-Powder (which promotes optimal colon health and aids in cleansing and oxygenating the intestines) and Colostrum Plus (which promotes digestive health, tackles inflammatory problems and supports the immune system). When trying supplements, of course, it should be noted that no person’s body is the same and so results can vary – but then so can most other forms of treatment. Evidently, when it comes to ulcerative colitis, depending on your diagnosis (and your doctor’s advice), there are many options of treatment available – certainly not just surgery.

Most recent Mag 07 review

I’ve been taking Mag 07 for a week and am finding it brilliant. It has reduced bloating, and flushed out my system. I have a clean system now, and I believe that without it, you’re not going anywhere in terms of your health. I take 4 capsules per day – 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I intend to continue to taking it indefinitely.

Most recent Colosan review

I’ve been taking colosan on and off for around 7 years. Nowadays I just use it if I have over eaten fibrous foods which made be bloated and colicky. I originally took a teaspoon at night with a little lemon juice and in the morning I had a very happy elimination. When I used it for the first week I eliminated what I can only describe as material that looked like black tar, but without and discomfort. Since then I haven’t looked back. It gave me my energy back and an overall sense of lightness and wellness.

Most recent Oxy-Powder review I have used Oxy-Powder regularly for years and it is absolutely brilliant. I use one capsule, sometimes two a day. It keeps me ‘regular’, stops me feeling full and bloated and keeps my digestive system efficient. Combined with my healthy diet it makes me fell very well. I am happy that it is an animal friendly vegan product as I don’t want to harm animals. I will probably use this product for the rest of my life it is so good. Click here for more Oxy-Powder reviews

Why you should cleanse your colon

Colonic hydrotherapy practitioners often maintain that the average adult is walking around with anywhere from six to twelve pounds of undigested material fermenting in their large intestine (the colon). Regardless of the amount of unwanted material lingering in the gut, there is little doubt that our Western diets (and Western drinking habits) contribute to a less than perfect intestinal environment for most of us. Result? An environment in which candida, parasites, microbes and other toxins thrive. And we tend to let whatever discipline we do have when we go off over Christmas and the New Year. Then in January and February, when the weather is gloomy, we tend to add to this through over eating, and sluggish levels of physical activity. It is unimaginable to think of going one week without the use of a toothbrush or toilet tissue. Yet, when was the last time you thought about cleaning the twenty feet in between? Do you think it’s any cleaner? It’s a simple fact, people rarely clean where they cannot see and that is where problems begin.

How often do you poop?

Constipation is commonly defined as not pooping 3 or more times per week. We disagree and follow the general view of naturopathic practitioners, that as a minimum we should to go the toilet every day without straining. But we should go to the toilet once for every meal we eat.

Why use an Oxygen based colon cleanser?

This is explained by John Taggart, the owner of the company that manufactures Colosan as such. Digestion is a process of oxidation. That is why we give off heat, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Just like a car engine when there is improper oxidation some of the fuel gets left behind as a residue. In the digestive tract, there is a similar build up of partially digested gunk. In an automobile when you add oxygen to the fuel mixture the built up materials are burned off or oxidized. You can do the same for your body. As these materials accumulate and subsequently begin to rot, your body wraps them in mucous to keep them from poisoning you. Colosan turns the accumulation and the mucous into carbon dioxide and water that are gently eliminated. By using Colosan to oxidize and eliminate this impacted material, you are  gently eradicating the home base to some of the largest assailants to your health and giving them nowhere to hide. By comparison laxatives tend to work as somewhat aggressive cathartics or purgatives. Amphetamines used as diuretics, are addictive and cause the body to dump its’ valuable water. Herbal laxatives such as senna work by employing micro toxins, or irritants, to produce the same effect, again of purging valuable water in order to flush the digestive tract. These two methods drain the body of necessary fluids in their attempt to wash out the system and are not ideal for long-term use. Another method of cleansing the colon involves the leeching of material from the  colon walls using carbon and clay. This is not harmful, but it does not oxygenate the digestive system. Similarly, fibre type laxatives like psyllium can be useful, but a lot of people do not tolerate them well, find them bloating (me – the writer of this newsletter and company director, being one of them). And once again this does not oxygenate the gut.

Candida and the Oxygen Colon Cleansers

Again quoting John Taggart “Many candida sufferers revere Colosan saying that they are the only thing that restores sanity and brings them calming relief from bouts of severe yeast overgrowth. Colosan dissolves the crud that the yeast is growing in, and creates an aerobic environment where beneficial flora can thrive and keep candida in check”.

Which is the best colon cleanser, Oxy-Powder or Colosan or Mag 07?

We get asked this question every day. Unfortunately we refuse to say that one is better than the other as we have had just as many people prefer one as another one. They are all great products – that’s all we can say. Occasionally people report to us that they have used one for a while and it worked great at the beginning, but gradually worked less and less effectively. Where this occurs, we usually find that rotating the products, even though they are theoretically very similar seems to do the trick.

No matter which product you choose, our basic message is: Clean your colon and you will be stronger and healthier for having done so.

Are the Oxygen Colon Cleansers compatible with colon hydrotherapy treatment / colonic irrigation?

Yes

(We wish all the questions we got asked were as simple to answer as this common enquiry).

Actually, we get a lot of referrals from colon hydrotherapy practitioners who recommend one of these products to their clients to use before or between treatments (the specific advice they tend give on how to use them tends to vary from one practitioner to another – but the fact remains that we are gettng many referrals).

Are there other benefits to using an oxygen colon cleanser besides cleaning the colon

Absolutely. The oxygenation not just for the gut, but of the whole body which these products were originally designed to provide were originally regarded as the main benefit. That is to say the improved oxygenation was thought to improve all aspects of health  and well-being. It’s not us saying this, but the inventors of this genre of cleanser, namely two German doctors and naturopaths who invented their forerunner  (Homozon) in 1898. They regarded flooding the gut and subsequently the tissues of the body with more oxygen as the primary benefit, with the colon cleanse aspect only being a ‘side’ benefit.

Our colon cleanse products oxygenate the colon, but also open the bowels in a dosage dependent manner, meaning the more you take the stronger the laxation effect. You can take a low dosage for a gentle stool softening effect, and a high dosage for a deep clean out. I take 2 capsules a day on an ongoing basis, but you can and should use your own intuition and common sense.
