Collagen is naturally found in the skin as well as the joints and bones, therefore it is needed throughout the whole body. Unfortunately, we tend to lose collagen from around the age of 30 so it needs to be replenished. A delicious, beautifying drink to help improve skin hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines
A customer asked us about the differences, having been advised that she should purcahse bovine collagen. We put this question to the manufactueres, and this is what they said...
Over 90% of collagen in the body is comprised of Types I and III. Connective tissues with bone, ligaments, tendons and skin have the highest concentrations of type I collagen. Type III collagen plays an important role in articular cartilage. Our Marine collagen provides predominantly types I and III, but also contains a variety of other types that will be naturally occurring in fish skin. Studies have shown that collagen from marine sources is more easily absorbed by the body than bovine, and this is one of the reasons we have chosen to use this source for many years now.
There is lots of conflicting information online so it can be confusing but evidence shows that beyond the superior bioavailability of marine collagen, the differences between bovine and marine sources of collagen are very small. Their amino acid profiles vary only slightly, for example marine sources are very slightly higher in glycine and very slightly lower in proline.
Hydrolysed collagen (from fish [including tilapia, Pangasus and Ictaluridae]).
