Echinacea is a member of the daisy family and is commonly known as the purple coneflower. It was once a popular medicinal herb among the early American settlers, who learned about Echinacea from the indigenous American Indians. Today, Echinacea remains the medicinal herb of choice of adults and older children for warding off flu and cold symptoms. Keep a box handy in your medicine cabinet.
