Selenium and your health

Selenium is most well known for its critical effects at supporting the immune system and as an antioxidant.

A study at the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1996 found that people who took 200 mcg of selenium a day for four and a half years reduced their risk of getting cancer by 32% and their risk of death from cancer by 50%.

Professor Harold Foster maintains in his book "The Real Cause of AIDS" that plasma selenium deficiency is the critical factor that allows HIV to turn to full blown AIDS, and that selenium supplementation may prevent this process.

Our selenium is derived from selenomethionine and is yeast free. Selenium supplements come in a number of different forms. Beware of cheap rubbish produced by some companies! Visit http://www.jacn.org/cgi/content/full/20/1/1 for an academic article on the differences between the better absorbed and poorer sources of selenium, safe and toxic intakes etc. Suffice it to say that the article suggests you can safely take a lot more than the one capsule per day suggested on the label if you have a serious health concern.

Ingredients per capsule:

Selenomethionine 200mcg (includes dicalcium phosphate), vegan capsule (cellulose, water).
